The eight top activities for Easter Week in Baqueira Beret and Val d’Aran
The ski and snowboard season arrives at a privileged moment with more sunlight hours and spring snowfalls that have left the runs with up to 50 cm of powder snow as was the case this past weekend. It’s the awaited Easter Week in the Val d’Aran to be enjoyed on the mountain with a total of 135km of skiable runs. Also, there are a set of unique activities off the mountain.
The Easter week holidays and the arrival of spring ensure you will enjoy Baqueira Beret and the Val d’Aran in a different way. The sunlight hours have lengthened and as a result there are many alternatives to discover outdoor activities. Although there are numerous options, we have made this selection:
1. The terraces in spring
Easter week is a great season to relax and discover new sports or simply enjoy the spring sun on the terraces of Baqueira. We recommend the terrace of the Borda Lobato located at the foot of the mountain in the area adjacent to the Montarto Hotel. Its renovated terrace with a rustic air and a wooden design is the most spring-like of all terraces and has a large seating area to enjoy a drink. Also, the 5J Baqueira grill in 1800 has a terrace with a grill and the best acorn fed Spanish ham on the peninsula with views of the Aneto and Maladetas mountains. In Orri there is the Moët Winter Lounge which continues to offer its champagne accompanied by tapas “de author” and a terrace with incredible views of the North Face. Located at the top of the Blanhiblar, the Barralh bar, offers magnificent views of the Pla de Beret, the North Face and the central pistes of Baqueira. A good moment for a selection of Spanish ham with toast and a glass of wine or cava. http://bit.ly/Restaurantes-Baqueira
2. Investigate new sports in the Ski Service Baqueria Store
After the full season with alpine skis and boots, it’s the time to try new ways to slide over the snow like snowboard, telemark or ski mountaineering. There sports on the rise which will ensure you feel new sensations on a board, the free heel of telemark and the freedom to open a new route on the mountain. You can rent all of your material in Ski Service de Baqueira: bit.ly/SkiServiceBaqueiraStore
3. Easter week ski course special
You can enjoy the ski classes offered through the Central Reservations of Baqueira Beret. At the hand of the Era Escola ski school, the oldest in the area, with a special for Easter Week from the 13th to the 16th of April. Reunite a group of your friends and take advantage from 10h to 13h to get started or to improve in this sport or simply finish the season in style! To reserve your spot: www.viajes.baqueira.es
4.Audi Ski Kronos
Competition, friendship and technology…this is what comes together on the groomed and timed run with 12 gates. The course is open to all skiers and snowboarders and is adjacent to the terrace of the Restaurant 2200 of Baqueira. The free installation mixes an easy competition with the latest in video technology and social media. The run of each skier is timed, recorded automatically and after downloading in www.baqueira.es can be shared in social media. This activity offers the skiers unique experiences which can be shared on the mountain, but also off the mountain with technology. The Audi Ski Kronos works through the bar code of the ski pass and each participant can know their time, find their video and do as many runs as they wish.
You can combine sport with relaxation in one of the highest spas in Europe, the Baños de Tredos (www.banhsdetredos.com). The hotel has a thermal hot spring with water emerging at 30ºC. You will also find the Baronia de Les spa (www.termasbaroniadeles.com), with sulphurous waters at higher than 30ºC. Both centres offer circuits which include pools, saunas, jacuzzis, among other services so you can enjoy wellness and the disconnect the high mountains offer. These waters are especially indicated to treat dermatological, arterial and breathing problems. Moreover, the temperature and body pressure increase thus favouring circulation and eliminating toxins.
6. Era Roda Sprint in the Val d’Aran on MTB
Designed to spend one or several days enjoying nature and adventure with your family or with friends. The plan is to discover the best mountain bike trails in the lower areas of the valley as the passes which are ridden in the summer are still covered in snow. 7. Aran Park – Fauna Park in Bossòst
This park dedicated to animals from the Pyrenees is one of the best activities to do with the little ones in the Val d’Aran. Bears, wolves, chamois, muflones, lynx, marmot, urogallo roosters…among others. In winter the facility closes to open its doors in spring. The start of this activity is set for April 1st and can be visited every day, including Sundays and holidays. For more information: www.aran-park.es
8. Heli-ski and panoramic tours in helicopter
Fly in a helicopter and ride on untouched mountains? A radically different option from the peace and quiet of the terraces. Discover another way to enjoy the mountain with the adapted programs offered by Pyrenees Heliski. You will discover the classic helicopter transfer to an ideal spot and the descent along with the heli-ski combinations with ascents using skins or snowshoeing excursions from the highest points with the best views.
